As stated earlier, Chiropractic is a very safe form of healthcare for the treatment of neck pain and headaches. According to recent studies, serious complications secondary to neck manipulation is so rare that is it very difficult to even place a number on the actual risk. According to the literature (Haldeman), the frequency of injury in only 1 in 2-5.85 million manipulations or 1 in 8 million office visits. The risk of injury is quite low, especially if a patient consults a chiropractic physician for spinal manipulation (specific manipulation is often termed "adjustments"). In my opinion, patients should think twice before consulting physical therapists or non-chiropractors with limited training (often nothing more than a weekend course) in biomechanics and spinal manipulation.

Dr. Farabaugh houses a large database of research concerning spinal manipulation, neck pain, and headaches and is well versed in accepted guidelines and standards. If a malpractice suit does occur, Dr. Farabaugh is available to review the case and provide a professional opinion and/or expert testimony. Simply call 614-898-0787 if you need assistance.
