Repetitive use injuries like carpal tunnel
syndrome and tendonitis can be very adequately managed in a chiropractic
office. Treatment often includes:
Rest
Bracing
Ice
Joint manipulation
Exercise
Physical therapy
Supplement therapy
Rehabilitation
Referral to another physician if the patient is not responding
to conservative care.
Given that drugs and surgery remains the main cost drivers in the
worker's compensation systems across the country, it would behoove
employers, both large and small to establish relationships with Doctors
of Chiropractic. In fact, employers across the nation are re-thinking
the wisdom of relying on traditional medicine and physical therapy
for treatment of repetitive use injury.
The all-inclusive nature of Chiropractic management can be much less
expensive than the ala-carte methodology of traditional drug treatment
and physical therapy. At times, more difficult cases do necessitate
a multidisciplinary approach to alleviate the pain caused by repetitive
use trauma. |
