Can
a Chiropractor treat extremity conditions?
Absolutely! Your Chiropractic physician is well schooled in
the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions/injuries
including conditions affecting: shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip,
knee, ankle, muscle strains, etc. |
In addition to the spine, we commonly treat:
Rotator cuff injury
Tennis elbow
Carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist and hand injury
Hip pain/arthritis
Knee sprain/strain
Tarsal tunnel syndrome and ankle sprain/strain
Plantar fascitis
Foot and toe pain
The goal of chiropractic management is usually to :
1. Reduce inflammation (ice, electric stim)
2. Improve joint mobility (spinal adjustments)
3. Improve muscular strength and flexibility (exercise and
rehab)
As with any injury, we generally expect good improvement within
the first two weeks of treatment. If you are not significantly improved
in that time period we either recommend additional diagnostic tests
like MRI, EMG, CT, or additional x-rays, or recommend a second opinion
to another specialist.
If you require treatment or testing not provided in this office,
we have no problem making the appropriate referral and we maintain
an extensive referral list which includes: neurosurgeons, orthopedic
surgeons, neurologists, family practice physicians, internists,
OB/GYNs, nutritionists, dentist, TMJ Specialists, physical therapists,
etc.
